In contrast to cylindrical thread limit plug gauges, tapered thread limit plug gauges have a measuring stage and thus test the thread minimum dimension and the thread maximum dimension. When thread testing with a tapered thread limit plug gauge, it must be possible to screw in the thread gauge between the first and second stage. To obtain an accurate test result, ensure that the thread to be tested is clean and free of lubricant residue. The ambient temperature and the temperature of the component should both be 20 degrees. Otherwise, the test result may be falsified.
