Thread Insert
A thread insert is a separate part (e.g. wire thread insert or self-tapping insert) that is placed into a prepared internal thread to repair or reinforce it.
Advantages:
- Restoration of damaged threads.
- Reinforcement in materials with low shear strength (e.g. aluminium, plastic).
Practical example:
A BaerCoil thread insert is screwed into an enlarged internal thread so that the screw finds a firm hold again.
