Trapezoidal Thread
A trapezoidal thread is a special thread profile form in which the flanks are trapezoidal rather than pointed.
Trapezoidal threads are used not primarily for fastening like coarse threads, but mainly for motion and force transmission. Typical applications include lead screws, lifting devices, vices and linear drives. Their design often also enables self-locking, which prevents unintentional loosening under load.
Key features of trapezoidal thread:
- Form: Trapezoidal profile, robust and low-wear.
- Application: Motion and drive elements.
- Advantages: High load capacity, even force transmission, long service life, often self-locking.
