External Thread
An external thread is the thread on the outside of a component – for example on screws, bolts or set screws.
Characteristics:
- It is typically screwed into an internal thread.
- Can be produced by cutting, forming or rolling.
Practical example:
An M10 external thread screw is screwed into an M10 internal thread nut to join components together.
