Self-tapping thread inserts BaerFix® - with cutting slots and cutting holes
Thread inserts offer a precise, robust and wear-resistant nut thread solution for workpieces made of light metal, plastic and other materials with low shear strength. Defective threads can thus be replaced quickly and cost-effectively.
For thread inserts, the thread armoring should not be underestimated either. The thread armoring is an innovative method for improving the strength and durability of components, especially screws and nuts.
Thread inserts have a conical shape and feature a cutting slot. They are made of case-hardened steel, stainless steel or brass and provide an almost tolerance-free as well as larger contact surface for the receiving material. This surface, in turn, ensures a higher pull-out resistance compared to the direct screw connection.
The tolerance free installation also comes about through the process of self-tapping: The thread insert chips the material itself when it is screwed into the hole and is thus pressed firmly into the material. The resulting thread can then be screwed with a screw. The connection between the screw and thread insert is much stronger because the material from which the insert is made has a high shear strength.
With BAER thread inserts you are also efficient on the road, because you save on material, installation space and weight - while maintaining the same or even higher requirements. Thanks to thread armoring, you need less space for your screw connections and can use smaller screw dimensions. In the end, you can also significantly reduce your overall costs.
With the high-quality BaerFix thread inserts from BAER you are on the safe side - no matter what you want to use them for. Our cutting slot, cutting holes and spark plug thread inserts are guaranteed not to let you down. Therefore, you should fall back on our thread inserts to be on the safe side. We will be happy to advise you on the selection and possible applications!
Thread inserts - applications
The threaded bushings or the thread inserts make it possible to repair damaged threads as well as to insert new, robust threads into weak materials such as light metals and all alloys with low shear strength.
Thread inserts can be used to produce stronger, higher performance threads in almost any material, and the inserts can be produced in a variety of materials such as stainless steel to suit individual requirements.
What materials can you insert the thread inserts into?
We carry various thread inserts, which not only differ in their type, but are also designed for different materials. This is because not all materials are suitable for fitting a thread insert.
How do you install the thread inserts?
That depends entirely on whether you want to repair the thread or create a thread - and of course on the material into which you want to install the threaded insert.
Basically, three steps are important:
Drill a core hole using a twist drill bit and in the appropriate size. (Of course we also have core drill bits in our assortment!)
Threading (only necessary if you do not use self-tapping thread inserts) with a thread milling cutter or screw tap.
Screw in the thread insert.
If you decide to use our BaerFix thread inserts , you can also purchase the matching installation tool if required, as well as thread repair kits and thread repair workshop kits buy.
Screw in thread inserts - what's behind it
Of the different types of thread inserts that you can find in the market, the following three types in particular are frequently used:
Self-tapping thread inserts are most commonly used for screwing in threaded bushes, but special inserts first require pre-tapping of the holding thread to allow the installation of thread inserts in harder materials. Thread inserts for screwing in are available in various materials such as steel, stainless steel, brass and with various coatings and are suitable for soft materials such as thermoplastics, glass fibre reinforced plastics and thermosets.
Our range of BaerFix thread inserts
We currently offer three categories of self-tapping thread inserts:
- Cutting slots for easy to medium machinable materials (M, UNC, UNF)
- Cutting holes for light to heavy machinable materials (case hardened steel, zinc plated; stainless steel 1.4305)
- Cutting holes for repair and reinforcement of spark plug threads
With each product you will find a description to help you choose the right thread insert. You are still unsure which one to choose for your individual application? We will be happy to help you. Please contact our competent sales team at any time and we will answer all open questions and determine the best product selection for your needs together with you.
