The installation of self-tapping thread inserts is a flexible and time-saving method for thread reinforcement or for repairing damaged threads. This way, you avoid waste, save material and weight, and achieve reinforcement of the original thread while keeping the same thread size. To ensure perfect installation of the thread inserts, you need a range of tools. In our practical thread repair kits, we have assembled all the necessary items for a variety of thread sizes. Everything you need to know about BaerFix thread repair kits
Our high-quality thread bushings strengthen the internal thread and increase load capacity, so your component can be securely fastened even with smaller thread dimensions or fewer connection points. During thread repair, you also restore the functionality of damaged threads without having to replace a component. Even in soft materials such as aluminium or magnesium, BaerFix thread inserts significantly increase resistance to vibrations, wear, and other stresses.
To install the thread inserts, you must first drill out the old thread or pre-drill a core hole. You can then countersink the edge of the hole with a countersink. In most applications, you do not need a tap because the BaerFix thread insert cuts its own receiving thread. Only with very hard and tough materials may it be necessary to prepare the thread accordingly.
Then place the BaerFix thread insert onto the installation tool, ensuring – depending on the variant – that the cutting slots or holes are facing downwards. Also make sure to tighten the lock nut to the correct height with an open-end wrench. You can then screw the thread insert into the hole.
The installation tool with hex drive can be operated with a cordless screwdriver, but also with a ratchet or socket. This gives you maximum flexibility. Once the thread insert has been fully screwed in, loosen the lock nuts again and remove the installation tool. The BaerFix threaded bushing remains in the thread, providing increased load capacity, pull-out strength, and improved corrosion protection.

Both versions are available in sizes M3 to M10, M3 to M12, or M5 to M12. This allows you to choose exactly the sizes you actually need. Each kit is supplied in a sturdy, well-organised box.
Thread repair set for imperial thread inserts
Imperial threads can also be easily repaired with BaerFix. For American UNC coarse threads and UNF fine threads, we offer kits covering thread sizes from 1/4 to 1/2". Each kit includes inserts, matching installation tools, twist drills, and an adapter socket.
