Twist Drill
A twist drill is a drill with a helical flute (spiral) that removes material during drilling.
Characteristics:
- Typical application as a core hole drill or for pre-drilling.
- Spiral direction and angle affect chip removal and drilling result.
Practical example:
Before thread cutting, a twist drill is first used to drill the core hole so that the internal thread can be cut correctly afterwards.
