Thread repair kit from BAER: all at once
Repair and strengthen threads with thread repair kits
Threads can break or wear out over time due to mechanical stress, environmental influences or rust. The thread repair is then a quick and usually more cost-effective alternative to replacing a complete component. With the right tools and good instructions, you don't need to be a professional to repair defective threads yourself. You will find everything you need in the BAER range.
Our product ranges BaerCoil® and BaerFix® are designed for the simple and permanent repair and reinforcement of internal threads. If you are trying out BaerCoil® or BaerFix® for the first time and are unsure which components you need, we recommend our thread repair sets. Even if you repair threads very frequently, are a professional craftsman or work in an industrial environment, a thread repair set is a good choice, as you can easily cover a high demand this way.
Thread repair kit BaerFix®
The BaerFix® thread inserts cut their own holding thread - that's the special thing about working with this thread repair kit. The inserts are conical in shape and have a cutting slot or cutting holes for use in difficult-to-cut materials. With the BaerFix® thread repair kit, you can increase the load capacity of a thread. In addition to thread repair, you can also use these inserts for thread armoring to save space, weight and money by using smaller dimensions.
What's inside the BaerFix® thread repair kits
The BaerFix® thread repair kit is available for the thread standards M (metric), UNC and UNF. Each thread repair kit contains self-tapping thread inserts and tools for one thread size. For the metric standard thread, you can choose from two thread repair kit versions with different sizes. The "Eco" thread repair kit contains five thread inserts, plus a matching twist drill bit and the inserting tool. The "Pro" version contains a total of ten thread inserts and a countersink in addition to the twist drill bit and inserting tool. Each thread repair kit is supplied in a sturdy plastic box that you can use for storage.
We also offer more comprehensive thread repair kits for our BaerFix® product series, which cover several thread sizes. These kits contain all the individual parts as described above, but in multiple versions with different dimensions. You will receive the thread repair kit in a high-quality case, in which you can store all parts in a clearly organised manner.
Using the BaerFix® thread repair kit
You can assemble the BaerFix® thread inserts either by hand or using a machine. There are different inserting tools for both cases. First, however, prepare the core hole. To do this, use the twist drill bit from your thread repair kit, as this is always the right size. You can then trim the edge of the hole countersinking. As the inserts cut their own holding thread, you do not need a screw tap.
Now screw the self-tapping thread insert onto the inserting tool from the thread repair kit. In this way, you can now screw the insert into the drill hole. Then remove the inserting tool and you are left with a perfectly reinforced threads that is far superior to the original thread in terms of wear resistance, load capacity and vibration resistance.
Thread repair kit BaerCoil®
Thread repair with BaerCoil® uses wire thread inserts, which reinforces the thread and ensures greater pull-out resistance. You also protect a thread from wear with a BaerCoil® thread repair kit, as the thread insert itself is not only very hard, but also has an excellent surface finish. The BaerCoil® thread inserts are also very flexible and adapt to the windings of the thread. This means that even pitch and angle errors can be compensated for.
What's inside the BaerCoil® thread repair kits
In addition to the thread inserts, a thread repair kit contains everything you need for thread repair. The BaerCoil® thread repair kits are subdivided according to thread standards and are each suitable for a specific thread size.
The thread repair kit contains 20 thread inserts of the desired type. Depending on the composition of the thread repair kit, the inserts are available in different lengths. You will also receive an twist drill bit and a screw tap in the appropriate size. Each thread repair kit for blind holes also includes a countersink. The assembly tool is also part of the thread repair kit, either for installation by hand or as a machine installation tool. Finally, you also receive a tang break tool with the thread repair set. All individual parts come in a robust cassette in which they can be neatly organised and safely stored.
If you need equipment for more than one thread size, then we also have our more comprehensive thread repair kits for you. These also contain all the necessary inserts and tools, but in multiple versions for a range of common thread sizes. With these large thread repair kits, you can also cover a wide range of requirements with just one purchase. You will also receive a spacious storage box in which you can keep all the components of the thread repair set.
Using the BaerCoil® thread repair kit
With an BaerCoil® thread repair kit, you can repair threads either manually or using a machine. In both cases, however, you must first prepare the damaged thread. To do this, drill it with the twist drill bit from the thread repair kit. If necessary, you can now ream the edge of the hole countersinking. Then take the screw tap from the thread repair kit and cut the holding thread into the hole.
Now continue with the inserting tool from the thread repair kit. This is designed either for manual use or for use in a stationary drilling machine. Screw the thread insert onto the installation tool and then screw both into the prepared hole. If you then unscrew the insertion tool again, the insert remains in the thread. The repair is then completed with the tang breaking tool, which is also part of the thread repair kit. You can use this to break the tang at thread insert.
You can find all the thread repair kits presented here in the BAER online shop. If you ever run out of inserts or need to replace a tool, you can of course also purchase all parts individually from us as your screw tap manufacturer. Our customer service will be happy to advise you on our thread repair kits and any other questions you may have!
