Tapping with a hand machine is a process with pitfalls - and yet hand-operated drills are used time and again to produce threads. The problem with this? An ordinary drill chuck with three clamping jaws cannot grip the round shank securely and the tool spins quickly, especially at high speeds and with hard materials. This can not only damage the drill and component, but in the worst case can even lead to injuries.
Our answer to this widespread problem is the TriTap tap made from high-quality HSSE-VAP. Thanks to its intelligent design, it can also be securely fastened in three-jaw drill chucks and offers a great deal of flexibility at the same time.
What is special about the TriTap screw taps?
Thanks to its special design, the TriTap tap combines a square and a triangular shank in one and the same shank. This allows you to clamp the tool as usual in chucks or holding tools with a square shank. However, if you decide to use a hand drill, the three clamping jaws grip the triangular shank securely and firmly and ensure a comfortable working experience.
HSSE-VAP: For universal use even in demanding materials
However, it is not only the shank design of our TriTap taps that creates flexibility. The material also makes these tools real all-rounders. High-performance high-speed steel with cobalt alloy (HSSE) ensures optimum work results and a long service life. In addition, our tools undergo a special surface treatment called vaporisation. This creates a particularly low-friction surface for low sliding resistance and very good corrosion protection. Vaporisation also improves the adhesion of cutting oil to the tool. You can recognise this surface treatment by its elegant black appearance.
Safe and flexible: Who are TriTap taps suitable for?
TriTap taps are perfect for anyone who cannot or does not want to use a stationary drill for every job. If you frequently work with hand-held machines and, as a fitter, tradesman or caretaker, are constantly changing your work location, then TriTap is the perfect addition to your toolbox.
DIY enthusiasts also benefit from our high-quality products. TriTap taps are universal tools that you can use for many different applications - even for stainless steel. This means you don't have to buy new taps for every material.
Tips for using TriTap taps
To achieve optimum results and maximise the service life of your TriTap tap, there are a few points you should bear in mind. Although the innovative design enables a secure fit in the three-jaw chuck, this does not eliminate all risk factors when used in hand-held machines.
Always ensure that the tool is held absolutely straight and perpendicular to the drill hole. This will prevent the tap from entering the hole at the wrong angle and cutting or breaking the thread. Aids such as a square can provide good support.
With manual machines, the feed rate is determined by your own arm movement and is therefore less fast and precise than the automatic feed rate of a stationary machine. Work in the lower speed range and proceed with sensitivity so as not to cut the thread and prevent the tool from tilting.
With blind hole threads, particular care must be taken to ensure that the tap does not come to rest on the bottom of the hole and be damaged by this contact. Work slowly and carefully here too.
