Operating Tools
Threads can be cut not only by machine but also manually – making the process highly accessible. Beginners, DIYers, and professionals alike benefit from this flexible approach. For safe and precise hand threading you need the right operating tools. Find them all in the BAER online shop.
Everything you need to know about operating tools
Operating tools connect your hand with the cutting tool. They ensure optimal power transmission, secure grip, and vertical alignment of the tool. Different holders are required for internal and external threads, complemented by useful accessories.
For internal threads use ratchet tap wrenches or T-handle wrenches, both with square drives. Ratchets allow continuous cutting without resetting.
For external threads use die holders, which clamp the round die firmly. Hexagonal dies are instead turned with ring or open-end wrenches.
Accessories: die guides help maintain alignment, while tap extensions extend reach into deep or tight areas.
Our operating tools range
The BAER online shop offers holders and accessories in many designs for safe, precise manual threading.
Ratchet tap wrenches
Available in three sizes, short or long design. With reversible ratchet and adjustable handle – perfect for tight spaces.
T-handle wrenches
Made of premium die-cast or steel, robustly built with flexible jaws and removable handles. Our PRO wrench handles taps up to M 42, while the adjustable steel wrench handles taps up to M 64.
Die holders
Offered in die-cast, steel, or for inch-sized dies. Compatible with common die guides. Steel versions are recommended for large diameters due to higher torque resistance.
Die guides
Made of free-cutting steel, available in sets for M 3–M 12. Ensure perfect alignment when hand cutting external threads.
Tap extensions
Solid steel extensions to reach deep threads safely and transfer high torque reliably.
