BaerFix Installation tools for - installing self-tapping threaded inserts
Installation tools are used for the repair of threads. This can occur because threads are often exposed to heavy loads. With some materials, the material's own shear strength is not sufficient to enable durable and wear-resistant threads. In these cases, thread inserts can be used to improve the pull-out strength and corrosion resistance of a thread. The self-tapping thread inserts from BaerFix® are also suitable for repairing already damaged threads.
To assemble the BaerFix® thread inserts quickly and safely, you need the appropriate tool. In our assortment you will find all the necessary assembly tools for the smooth installation of our self-tapping thread inserts. All products of the BaerFix® series are perfectly matched and of high quality. To prepare the hole, first use the BaerFix® core drill bit and then the BaerFix® countersink. With the inserting tool for manual use or the thread insert tool for the machine, you will succeed in inserting the self-tapping thread inserts in no time. With the BaerFix® assembly tools you get everything you need from one source to strengthen or repair your threads quickly and cleanly.
BaerFix® Assembly tool core hole drill bit
Repairing or reinstalling a threaded insert usually begins with drilling the core hole. An exception is when the workpiece is manufactured by means of mould casting and it is possible to create locating holes for the thread inserts already in this work step. In all other cases, drilling is unavoidable. The assembly tool of choice is the BaerFix® core drill bit which you can find in many sizes in our online shop. The required diameter of your assembly tool depends on the desired thread diameter as well as on the material used. Hard, tough and/or brittle materials require a larger bore than soft and elastic materials. You can find the respective guide values in the table in our catalogue.
BaerFix® Assembly tool countersink
Not absolutely necessary, but still always a good idea, is the countersinking of the core hole with a taper countersink. This assembly tool has a conical head with cutting edges that evenly remove material from the edge of the drill hole and ensure a smooth finish. In this way, you remove chips and sharp-edged residues that could cause damage or even injury. You also ensure a professional appearance and prepare the drill hole optimally for further work. A work step that you should not skip.
As assembly tools in our BaerFix® series, you can obtain countersinks from BAER in two sizes. The nature of these tools makes it possible to countersink mounting holes for different thread standards with only one attachment. This means that you do not need a separate countersink for each outside diameter, but cover a range of dimensions with just one installation tool.
BaerFix® Installation tools for manual installation
In the category "Assembly tools" you will find installation tools with which you can install the thread insert by hand. Please note that there are special installation tools for spark plug threads. Otherwise, simply pay attention to the correct thread standard. With the help of the BaerFix® adapter nut, you can use the assembly tools for manual installation with many different screwdriving tools.
The application of this assembly tool is very simple. After you have prepared the hole with core drill bit and countersink, the thread insert comes directly into play. It may only be necessary to pre-cut the thread with a screw tap if the material is very hard, tough and solid. The thread insert is then screwed onto the inserting tool with the cutting slots facing downwards. From above, lock it with the nuts. Then screw the assembly tool into the prepared hole with a steady hand. Thanks to the bit holder, you can use a cordless screwdriver, a ratchet or other screwdriving tools for this. When you screw it in, the insert automatically cuts its own thread. Once you have sunk it completely into the core hole, you simply loosen the lock nuts with an open-ended spanner and unscrew the assembly tool again. Your reinforced or repaired thread is ready.
BaerFix® Assembly tools for installation with the machine
Of course, you can also install the BaerFix® self-tapping thread inserts with the machine. For this you need our assembly tools, which you can find in the category "machine inserting tools" category. Bring the workpiece into position under the machine and first prepare the receiving hole for the thread insert with the core drill bit and the taper countersink.
Now it's time for the actual thread. Clamp the assembly tool in the machine and adjust it to the depth of the thread. Turn the outer sleeve so that the stop pin is in contact and thus drives the sleeve when you start screwing it in. Then screw the thread insert onto the bottom of the set screw. Two to four turns are sufficient. Now use the machine to screw the thread insert into your workpiece. Make sure that the assembly tool does not touch down too hard to avoid damage. If you now let the machine run back, the outer sleeve will be taken along by the stop pin again and will unconvert itself with the thread insert. It remains in the receiving hole and ensures a strong hold and low wear.
