Twist Drill Sets
Twist drills are among the most widely used tools in both professional and DIY applications. They are also indispensable for thread production, as they are required for core hole drilling. By purchasing a twist drill set, you cover your entire requirement with a single click and ensure that you always have the right tool at hand for metalworking. In our online shop, you will find a wide range of twist drill sets made from different base materials and designed for various applications and materials.
Everything You Need to Know About BAER HSS Twist Drill Sets
Whether you are a professional tradesperson or a DIY enthusiast, you usually do not work on just one project and then never pick up a drill again. In everyday use, you need different drill sizes – sometimes even for the same hole. What if you later realize that the core hole was drilled too small? With a drill set, it is no problem at all to choose the next size up and repeat the drilling.
At BAER, we focus on care and top quality from the very first production step. In our case, this begins with selecting the base materials from which our twist drills are manufactured. Only high-quality high-speed steel (HSS) offers the properties we demand from our twist drill sets. To optimize our drill sets for different applications, we use several variants of HSS.
HSSE (also known as HSS-Co) is high-speed steel with an additional alloy, usually cobalt. Twist drill sets made of HSSE are particularly hard and feature excellent hot hardness and tempering resistance.
The designation HSSG refers to twist drill sets that are additionally precision ground. This special treatment enables very high drilling accuracy and excellent surface quality. Some HSSG twist drills of this type are also TiN-coated. This coating improves the glide properties of the drill and allows high speeds while maintaining a very long service life.
A Twist Drill Set for Every Application – Our Range
At BAER, you will find twist drill sets in various sizes and configurations, allowing you to easily adapt the set to your specific needs. Each drill set covers a range of different sizes, typically increasing in increments of 0.5 mm. If you require particularly fine gradations, choose a drill set with increments of just 0.1 mm between the twist drills. We also offer drill sets that, in addition to standard sizes at 0.5 mm intervals, include special core drills for various thread sizes.
Most BAER twist drill sets are suitable for common materials such as iron, steel, or stainless steel and comply with DIN 338. However, some materials require twist drills with special properties.
With the BAER twist drill set for stone and concrete, even tough jobs are no challenge. The special feature of this drill set is the carbide-tipped drill heads, which produce clean holes even in very hard materials. For extreme applications, the SDS-Plus hammer drill set is the ideal choice. Thanks to its four solid carbide cutting edges, the hammer-shaped drill head penetrates reinforced concrete and is particularly durable. This performance has even earned us a PGM certification.
Wood is another material that requires a specialized drill set. The long wood fibers can easily tear out, causing splintering and unsightly hole edges. The BAER twist drill set for wood addresses this issue with especially sharp cutting edges that cleanly and effortlessly cut through even stubborn fibers. Thanks to the centering tip of the wood drill, pre-centering is not required, yet perfect results are still guaranteed.
