Machining
Machining refers to a manufacturing process in which material is deliberately removed by cutting.
In the context of thread tools, machining means: when thread cutting or tapping, material is removed from the inner or outer surface of a hole or cylinder so that the characteristic thread helix is formed. The chip is lifted by the cutting edges of the tool and evacuated via the flutes.
Machining is therefore the fundamental principle by which screws, nuts or components with precise internal and external threads are produced.
