HSS stands for High Speed Steel and designates a
high-speed tool steel developed specifically for cutting tools.
It is characterised by high hardness, wear resistance and hot hardness
and enables working at significantly higher cutting speeds than conventional tool steel.
HSS is the standard material for drills, taps,
dies and milling tools in metalworking.
