HSSG
HSSG (or HSS-G) stands for "high-speed steel ground". The "G" denotes drills or tools with a ground surface and sharp cutting edge.
Advantages over rolled or less precisely manufactured variants:
- Smoother surface, better cutting edge, more precise concentricity.
- Often higher quality and better chip evacuation.
Practical example:
A ground tap (HSSG) leaves smoother thread flanks and is better suited when high dimensional accuracy and good performance under dynamic loading are required.
