The dimension describes the geometric specifications of a tool or component – e.g. length, diameter or thread depth. Precise dimensions are crucial when tapping threads.
Dimensional accuracy means that a workpiece or thread has been manufactured within the specified dimensions and tolerances – i.e. cross-section, diameter, pitch, etc. are correct.
A drill chuck is the holder on a drilling or threading tool used to clamp a tool (e.g. twist drill, tap or adapter) in the machine.
