Dimensional Accuracy
Dimensional accuracy means that a workpiece or thread has been manufactured within the specified dimensions and tolerances – i.e. cross-section, diameter, pitch, etc. are correct.
Relevance:
- Only if dimensional accuracy is ensured will nuts, screws and thread inserts fit together cleanly.
- Dimensional deviations can cause play, loosening or assembly problems.
Practical example:
An M8 × 1.5 screw is only permitted a certain deviation in outer diameter and pitch – otherwise it will not fit standard nuts.
