Tapered Mandrel
A tapered mandrel is a pointed or conical mandrel used to facilitate centring, to start before drilling, or to align workpieces correctly.
Application:
- Centre drilling before drilling large-diameter through holes.
- Can also serve as part of clamping or installation systems.
Practical example:
In a drilling jig, a tapered mandrel is used to position the workpiece exactly so that the bore is centred and straight.
