Thread Standard
Thread standard refers to the binding standards by which threads are defined in terms of profile geometry, pitch and dimensions – e.g. DIN, ISO, ANSI, Whitworth.
Why it matters:
- Threads from different manufacturers or workpieces must be compatible.
- Standards ensure interchangeability and function.
Practical example:
A metric thread ISO-M8 × 1.25 complies with a standard; a nut, bolt or thread insert to this standard are interchangeable.
